In the face of soaring electricity prices and dynamic market changes, businesses are facing new challenges. Acquiring green energy and ensuring stable electricity prices have become one of the policy priorities of companies seeking sustainable development. The workshop points out the direction and opportunities of the market to purchase clean energy, and experts explain why it is increasingly profitable.
Dynamic changes in the energy market in Poland and Europe, which are mainly due to the consequences of the pandemic and hostilities in Ukraine, have resulted in huge increases in the cost of purchasing energy utilities in recent months. This situation is forcing companies to look for solutions that will at least partially mitigate the effects of drastic increases in the cost of purchasing electricity and gas.
The free workshop, which was held thanks to the cooperation between the RE-Source Poland Hub Foundation and the Walbrzych Special Economic Zone INVEST PARK, explained to interested entrepreneurs why the topic of acquiring green energy is important and how it affects the concreteness of Polish industry. With their expert knowledge and long experience in the industry, speakers from RE-Source Poland Hub and think tank Wise Europa, among others, pointed out the directions of change in the energy market and suggested optimal solutions for business.
– The transition of companies to green energy is currently one of the major business trends. It is dictated by the desire to reduce the cost of energy consumed, as well as growing expectations from customers and business partners, who prefer products and services with a minimal carbon footprint. This translates into increasing the competitiveness of the economy and investment attractiveness,” pointed out Szymon Kowalski, vice president of the RE-Source Poland Hub Foundation.
More and more small and medium-sized companies and corporations are making new commitments to sustainability as market rules demand it. The cost of renewable energy in both Poland and Europe is falling rapidly compared to fossil energy, and regulators around the world are slowly becoming convinced that clean energy is essential to the decarbonization of the private sector.
– In Europe, energy-intensive companies are among the main buyers of energy, as well as the ICT sector and transportation. With contracts such as the cPPA, the buyer can demonstrate that it is using energy from RES and, importantly, is assured of supply for the duration of the contract. This not only increases the financial stability of the company, but significantly affects its competitiveness in the national and international arena, where the aspect of reducing CO2 production is a strong sales factor,” explains Pawel Wrobel, director of the RE-Source Poland Hub Foundation.
The transition of companies to green energy is often one of the main strategic actions that companies communicate to their shareholders, business partners and customers. In Poland, a boom in the shift toward zeroemission and environmentally friendly policies has already begun for several years, following other European countries.
