The 20th anniversary edition of the PWEA Conference – the largest event of the wind power sector in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe – is behind us! For two decades, the conference has been a space for the exchange of knowledge, experience and visions of the future between industry leaders, regulators and investors. This year we could not miss it either!

Szymon Kowalski, Vice President of the RE-Source Poland Hub Foundation and PWEA, moderated two key debates:

  • “Energy Market – Prospects”.

  • “System services and flexibilities as market redispatch mechanisms – or how to make money from wind farm capacity reduction.”

Both sessions brought together prominent energy market experts and practitioners:

  • Paweł Wróbel (Polish Electricity Committee)
    Piotr Listwoń (Towarowa Giełda Energii)
Radosław Walaszczyk (Energy Regulatory Office – ERO)
    Maciej Szambelańczyk (WKB Lawyers)
    Sebastian Jasinowski, CFA (EY-Parthenon Polska)
    Tomasz Zadroga (Respect Energy Holding)
    Nizar Yousef (Northland Power Inc.)
    Jacek Rusiecki (Neo Energy Group)

We discussed:

  • The future of Poland’s energy mix in a 5, 10 and 15-year perspective,

  • The role of cPPA and CfD in market transformation,

  • New business models to support RES,

  • The importance of system services and flexibility as tools for redispatching power,

  • The challenges of balancing the National Electricity System.

Our common conclusion is that the energy transition is not just about investing in technology, but more importantly, there is a need for transparent regulation, strong public-private partnerships and stable market models.
