The energy transition is becoming one of the key factors affecting the competitiveness of energy-intensive industries. Growing energy price volatility, increasingly frequent negative prices, and the need to mitigate cost risks are driving companies to seek new models for energy management and supply security.

In response to these challenges, the RE-Source Poland Hub Foundation, in cooperation with the Chamber of Industrial Energy and Energy Consumers (IEPiOE), the Forum of Electricity and Gas Consumers (FOEEiG), organized a webinar dedicated to opportunities for reducing energy costs in industry through the use of renewable energy sources and modern energy contracting models.

The aim of the event was to present practical solutions that help businesses achieve long-term stability in energy costs, enhance energy security, and effectively harness the potential of green energy. Educating industrial consumers about available market and technological instruments remains one of the key elements in the development of a modern economy based on competitive and low-carbon energy.

During the meeting, Szymon Kowalski, Vice President of the RE-Source Poland Hub Foundation, and Bartosz Wilk, President of Business Energy Solutions, presented the current state of the energy market, analyzing the impact of dynamic price changes on companies’ procurement strategies. Particular attention was paid to the consequences of the growing number of hours with negative prices and the changes taking place in the balancing market.

During the webinar, the following topics were discussed, among others:

  • the use of corporate power purchase agreements (CPPAs) as a tool for stabilizing energy costs and mitigating price risk,
  • the role of renewable energy installations and energy storage facilities in improving energy efficiency and enhancing businesses’ resilience to price fluctuations,
  • the impact of regulatory and market changes on the profitability of energy investments,
  • models of cooperation between industrial consumers and renewable energy producers,
  • the key trends shaping the development of the green energy market in Poland and Europe.

The discussion confirmed that renewable energy sources are increasingly becoming not only a means of achieving climate goals, but also a key tool for building a competitive advantage for businesses. In the face of growing uncertainty in the energy market, solutions such as cPPAs, on-site renewable energy installations, and energy storage systems effectively increase cost predictability and strengthen the security of business operations.

We would like to thank all participants for their active involvement in the event, as well as our partners — the Chamber of Industrial Energy and Energy Consumers and the Forum of Electricity and Gas Consumers — for co-organizing the meeting and for our joint efforts to develop a modern, competitive, and low-carbon industrial sector.
