Can renewable energy sources and energy-intensive industries not only coexist, but drive each other’s development? This is one of the key questions that will resound during a panel discussion organized as part of the #PSEW2026 conference, of which RE-Source Poland Hub is a partner.

The energy transition is increasingly ceasing to be solely a response to climate challenges. Today, the development of RES is becoming one of the most important elements in building the competitiveness of the economy – it affects energy security, the stabilization of energy costs, the investment attractiveness of the country and opportunities for further industrial development.

This is particularly important for energy-intensive sectors, which are currently facing rising operating costs, decarbonization pressures and the need to remain competitive in the European market. Access to cheap, predictable and zero-carbon energy is becoming one of the key factors determining the location of industrial investments and the future of many industries.

During the debate, experts will discuss, among other things:

  • The role of RES in the maintenance and development of energy-intensive industries in Poland,
  • Opportunities to implement dedicated support mechanisms for energy consumers and generators,
  • The importance of corporate PPAs and direct lines,
  • The impact of distribution system operators on the pace of new investments,
  • the conditions necessary to successfully combine the energy transition with industrial development.

The debate will also provide an opportunity to talk about how to turn the challenges of decarbonization into a real competitive advantage and a boost to attract global capital to Poland.

This is an important meeting for representatives of energy-intensive industries, including metallurgy and the chemical sector, as well as for RES developers looking for stable models of cooperation with energy consumers in the formula of corporate PPAs and direct lines.
