Green energy is no longer just the domain of corporations. Local government units (LGUs) are increasingly turning to PPAs to protect their budgets from rising energy prices.

Example?

Lodz was the first city in Poland, together with the RE-Source Poland Hub Foundation, to start work on a modern model for purchasing green energy – a corporate PPA (cPPA). In addition to contracting green energy, the aim of the cooperation is to develop special procedures aimed at concluding the first cPPA for the public sector in Poland. As a first step, it is planned to purchase a portion of the volume of energy demand – we are talking about 15 GWh, which could come from a mix of wind and PV RES.

PPAs are not only a way for local governments to achieve their sustainable development goals, but most importantly a real opportunity for financial stability and support for local RES development. The conference will show how to effectively carry out such a process – from planning to contract signing.
