On March 18 this year, we met with representatives of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH), Energa-Operator S.A., Pomeranian Regional Development Agency S.A. and industry parties, including the Polish Wind Energy Association, to discuss how to better utilize the growing generation of energy from RES in northern Poland. One of the main topics was the creation of new energy consumers, primarily by attracting new industrial investments to regions where the availability of green energy is greatest.

We looked at this challenge from three perspectives.
From the point of view of the Distribution System Operator, the key point is that renewable energy sources are growing rapidly in the north of Poland, while much of the energy demand remains located in other parts of the country. This means additional burdens on the distribution system and real costs for consumers.

From the perspective of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency, access to cheap, stable and low-carbon energy is increasingly becoming one of the most important factors in investment decisions by large energy-intensive companies. Today, it is no longer just land and infrastructure that matter, but also the competitive cost of energy in the long term.

For the industry side, including the RE-Source Poland Hub and PWEA, a major challenge remains the development of new RES projects, which requires ensuring stable energy consumption. Without new large-scale consumers, it will be difficult to fully realize the RES potential in northern Poland.

A key step of further work will be the precise mapping of available data on the connectivity of new loads, investment areas and RES projects under development. Combining this information can become the basis for developing effective solutions that address both the needs of the system and investors.

The RE-Source Poland Hub Foundation is also working on a dedicated support mechanism for energy-intensive industries, both those already in operation and potential investors, to enable access to cheap green energy. This is one of the prerequisites for building industry competitiveness and better utilization of the potential of renewable energy sources in Poland.

Thank you for your substantive conversation and openness to cooperation.
